It’s Time For A Miracle
Yesterday we quietly began our V13 Christmas Miracle.
Paying lip service to a Mission, Vision, Values page on your corporate site while clearly orienting everything towards profitmaxxing seems to be the domain of most businesses, big or small, these days. And we’re frankly tired of that shit. Christopher Gonda and I have this weird thing where we believe that we can run a business using a balance of Love & Logic.
Which is why, from now until the end of the year, we’re giving away free PR services to artists. Included among some of the options for services that artists can apply for are press releases, bios, EPKs, one-sheets, and more.
Look, I get it. Free PR in December? Sounds like a tired old PR stunt. Another brand trying to go viral with a heart-shaped sales funnel. Hell, if I saw this in my inbox, I’d probably roll my eyes too. Marketing pretending it ain’t selling shit: gross.
But I’m going to be honest with you now, so hear me when I say this: there’s no sponsorship, no angel investor, no pipeline of grant money backing this. It’s just us working with what little we have because artists are getting bled dry and we’re f*&!ing tired of watching it happen. Every time we think we’ve hit peak scam, along comes another AI-peddling, crypto-flavoured startup with a shiny deck and a plan to “revolutionize artist services” by gutting what little there is left.
We see it. We feel it. It makes us sick.
So this isn’t a stunt or any of that. It’s a refusal. It’s a handful of people (Chris, me, Erin, Melissa, Jay, our entire V13 management team, hell, all of our contributors) doing what we can with what we’ve got. There’s no margin or play here. Just a hell of a lot of sweat, grit, and a deep, irrational love for artists and the people who still fight for them.
Because while others are trying to wall you in, scrape your data, and repurpose your work without paying or crediting you, we’re over here planting something different.
A V1LLAG3. Something that feeds and protects and makes space. We’re trying to actually cultivate something here. It’s stewardship. It’s us tending the soil in hopes that something more beautiful, more just, and more human can grow.
We’re calling it a Christmas Miracle. But really, it’s a seed. We hope it helps you grow.
