☝️ ONE BIG THING
Most artists treat email interviews like dentist appointments: something to survive, not an opportunity. But here’s the thing: they’re one of the few places you actually get to control the narrative.
No awkward pauses.
No “uhhh.”
No journalist misquoting you because your sentence started three ways and ended in tears.
An email interview is your stage without the stage fright. You get to rewrite yourself until you sound like the version of you that actually shows up in your head. It’s a gift. And most people blow it by writing like robots or sales reps.
The goal isn’t to sound professional; it’s to sound alive. Be weird. Be specific. Give them something to remember. Because in a sea full of copy-paste AI slop, personality is what breaks through.
If you want the blueprint (and a few examples of what not to do) scroll down to the Advice section. I’ve linked the full piece there. It’s your unofficial guide to writing interviews that people actually want to read.
And now, on to the rest of the newsletter.
