// THE WORD THIS WEEK:
“Create whether you feel inspired or not. Inspiration will eventually catch up to you.” —Elizabeth Gilbert, Big Magic
I’ve been living this truth firsthand while working on The Guide to Going Pro. I used to believe that inspiration alone would carry me through—that if I just had the right ideas, everything else would follow. But instead of flow, I hit a wall. Socials went silent. Writing stalled. My creativity felt locked up, weighed down by vague plans and half-finished thoughts.
Everything shifted when I stopped waiting for clarity and took a more structured approach. I built a framework instead of hoping for momentum. I mapped out sections, created templates, and set small, achievable goals. The more detailed I became, the more productive I felt. Systems didn’t restrict me—they gave me freedom. When I knew exactly what needed to happen next, I could pour all my energy into the actual work instead of second-guessing myself.
Creative blocks thrive on uncertainty. But structure cuts through the noise. A posting schedule for socials, a content format for videos, or a daily checklist for writing—it all helps remove the friction that keeps you stuck and overwhelmed.
Watching The Guide to Going Pro take shape has proven to me that progress comes from deliberate, consistent action. It’s not about giant leaps—it’s about showing up over and over until you build something real.
If you’re feeling stuck, start by choosing one area of your creative process to organize. Whether it’s a content calendar or a system for handling ideas, give yourself something concrete to work with. You’ll be amazed at how quickly the block lifts—and how easily the work starts to flow again.

Shining a spotlight on the trailblazing artists who are flipping the script and redefining what it means to make music
Ger Carriere Ger Carriere is a genre-agnostic Cree singer-songwriter who moves effortlessly between pop, EDM, jazz, and folk, driven by an unshakable need to express life in all its brutal, beautiful chaos. Born in the Métis settlement of Cumberland House of Saskatchewan and based in Edmonton, Alberta, Ger’s music doesn’t fit neatly into any box—it cracks it open, burns it, and dances in the ashes. |
